Toyota HackFesta CTF

TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA

October 2023

Toyota's two-day automotive security CTF at its Plano headquarters. Teams of four from US and Japanese universities worked firmware and software challenges on Toyota's PASTA and RAMN vehicle-network testbeds — real ECUs talking over a CAN bus — through onsite hacking sessions, workshops and a shared international leaderboard.

VisionLog: Live Object Detection

Jan 2025 — June 2025

A native Mac app that watches the built-in camera and recognizes objects in real time. Hold something up and VisionLog draws a box around it, names it, logs the detection to the cloud, and charts what it's been seeing over time.

›Live AVFoundation camera feed → Vision → YOLOv3 (CoreML) bounding boxes, fully on-device.
›Every detection is stored in Firebase Firestore; Swift Charts visualize object frequency over time.
›System notifications when a watched object shows up, a settings tab for uploads & theme, plus unit + UI tests.

About

Do not let your fears become your advisor.

I'm Adam — a software engineering student at UT Dallas ('26) who moved from Palestine to Texas in 2019 and hasn't stopped building since. Two years of robotics (a NASA Lunabotics rover with Comet Aerobotics, ChessBots with Comet Robotics), a web specialist role at UTD's Jonsson School, and a habit of showing up to hackathons — six wins so far, from Axxess to HackUTD.

Right now I'm a data analytics intern at Peterbilt and the co-founder of Yappin, the college network Hamza and I shipped to the App Store. This fall I join Brock Solutions as a software engineering co-op, writing C#/.NET for real-time industrial systems — the kind that keep airports running. Off the keyboard: road trips, race cars, and the occasional fruit cup.
